New UN working group on carbon life-cycle emissions elects CLEPA as co-Secretary
The first session of the recently created United Nation’s working group on carbon life-cycle emissions took place in Okinawa, Japan from 18 to 26 October, and the second session was online on the 6 December.
During the kick-off meeting, CLEPA was elected co-Secretary along with AVERE and Japanese government representatives.
In addition, CLEPA, JAPIA and MEMA presented their joint worldwide position of automotive suppliers on what should be the target of a worldwide harmonised LCA method, based on a bottom-up approach, comparability of results with a harmonised methodology, and a push for existing standards.
The second session of this working group had as the main points of the discussion the approval of the terms of reference of the informal working group and the organisation of the sub-groups and task forces. A final agreement has not yet been reached and the discussion on these two topics will proceed during in the next session in January.
