EC: Call for applications for Platform on Cooperative, Connected, Automated and Autonomous Mobility (CCAM)
The European Commission has set up an informal group of experts, the Single Platform for open road testing and pre-deployment of cooperative, connected, automated and autonomous mobility.
The group provides advice and support to the Commission in the field of testing and pre-deployment activities for Cooperative, Connected, Automated and Autonomous Mobility (CCAM). The group consists of up to 100 experts, appointed for a period of three years.
Background:
In 2018, the Commission announced its intention to establish a single EU-wide platform grouping all relevant public and private stakeholders to coordinate open road testing of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) and make the link with pre-deployment activities.
The Commission’s Directorate-General for Mobility and Transport (‘DG MOVE’), in agreement with other Commission departments, has set up an informal group of experts, the Single Platform for open road testing and pre-deployment of cooperative, connected, automated and autonomous mobility.
Scope:
This group’s task shall be to provide advice and support to the Commission in the field of testing and pre-deployment activities for Cooperative, Connected, Automated and autonomous Mobility (CCAM). In particular, the group shall assist the Commission in the following CCAM related thematic areas:
-
The coordination of CCAM research, testing, piloting, and pre-deployment activities, herein collectively referred to as “testing and pre-deployment activities”, in order to increase efficiency and effectiveness, and to integrate existing fora at EU-level.
-
Within the scope of testing and pre-deployment activities, there are important challenges towards the deployment of CCAM that the group shall address, such as those pertaining to data access and exchange, road transport infrastructure, digital infrastructure, communication technology, cybersecurity, road safety, and legal frameworks, etc.
-
In its Communication, the European Commission also announced that it would be establishing a partnership under the next European multiannual financial framework to give a clear long-term framework to the strategic planning of research and pre-deployment programmes on driverless mobility at EU and national levels. The single EU-wide platform shall advice on and support the generation of the work programme for this partnership.
