CLEPA takes part in two new EU-funded projects: GIANTS and EFFEREST

CLEPA, the European Association of Automotive Suppliers, is excited to announce its participation in two new EU-funded projects, GIANTS and EFFEREST, set to commence in January 2024 under the Horizon Europe framework.

GIANTS

Short for “Green Intelligent Affordable New Transport Solutions,” the GIANTS project will focus on creating accessible and cost-effective mobility solutions. The project’s primary aim is to develop an innovative electric vehicle platform tailored to user demands.

GIANTS aims at developing a new EV solution offering modularity, scalability, and interoperability, while featuring innovative charging and energy optimisation solutions, ultimately reducing the ownership cost of electric vehicles.

Additionally, GIANTS will include demonstration activities with prototypes to showcase the technology’s potential and encourage adoption by major original equipment manufacturers.

EFFEREST

The EFFEREST “EFFicient user-centric EneRgy managEment SysTems for optimized electric vehicles” project will leverage data to enhance the energy efficiency EV designs while ensuring user satisfaction and efficient vehicle operation. By doing so, the aim is to provide users with personalised data and the ability to choose the vehicle’s performance type.

Through evaluations in test facilities on a demonstrator vehicle, EFFEREST will showcase innovations in powertrains, battery systems, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems, with the goal of making electric vehicles more energy-efficient, comfortable, and safe.

Both projects have robust consortiums and will be coordinated by the Graz-based Automotive R&D leader, Virtual Vehicle.

CLEPA’s participation in EU projects, which focuses primarily on defining specifications and on communication and outreach towards automotive suppliers and the wider road transport ecosystem across Europe, reflects our commitment to advance safer, smarter and more sustainable mobility.
