Luxembourg will hold the Presidency of the Council of the European Union for the twelfth time in the second semester of 2015.

The Luxembourg Presidency will hold 237 meetings between July and December 2015, including 21 ministerial meetings. There will be 67 meetings in September alone! In total, there are 26,816 participants and 6,875 delegations expected at 37 different sites across the country.

Of these meetings, 120 will be accompanied by a comprehensive and varied socio-cultural agenda; guided tours, walking tours, culinary tours, boat trips and concerts have been planned.

About one hundred of the meetings will require interpretation services and the Presidency will work together with the Directorate General for Interpretation of the European Commission for most of them. The most common language arrangements for interpretation will be two, three or five languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian). Three meetings will require comprehensive language coverage from 23 source languages into these five target languages.

In order to transport the delegates, a fleet of 89 vehicles, among which limousines and multivan people carriers have been provided for, plus another 160 vehicles for major events. A storage area of 3,097 m2 is needed to store the fleet of vehicles. In terms of fuel, 221,706 litres of diesel and 91,695 litres of petrol will be needed.

Delegates will be accommodated in 25 hotels with nearly 12,000 rooms being reserved, while more than 24,000 overnight stays have been allowed for.  With regard to catering, provision has been made for 170 evening meals at seven main catering venues. The meals will be prepared by seven catering services and will involve 35 different restaurants.
