Automotive suppliers in Europe employ overall nearly five million people across the continent.
European automotive suppliers are solution providers, bringing to the market an increasing diversity of products with ever shorter development and production cycles. Automotive suppliers play a key role in innovating and adapting the automotive industry to meet new global societal challenges and regulatory requirements. Automotive suppliers deliver solutions today for the challenges of tomorrow’s safe, smart and sustainable mobility.
Automotive suppliers annually register over 3000 patents, and are the largest private investors in R&D n Europe. The intense focus on R&I is signified within CLEPA through the dedicated R&I member community, delivering input to the international and European R&D roadmap development as well as enabling access to pre-competitive EU-funded research projects.
The ability for industry and their associated service companies manufacture and operate competitively in Europe and the world forms the necessary basis for further investment, innovation, wealth creation and employment in Europe. The European Commission’s targets to increase overall industry’s share of GDP to 20% by 2020, to reduce consumption of primary energy by 20% by 2020 and to cut emissions up to 40% by 2030, can only be achieved with the strong contribution of the automotive industry and its expertise in technologies.
