CLEPA Membership Update

This month, we welcome two new members to the CLEPA family – Tokai Rika, a manufacturer of safety products and SDCM, the Polish Association of Automotive Parts Distributors and Producers.

Tokai Rika

 

Tokai Rika is a manufacturer of safety products (seat belts, steering wheels, door mirrors), security products (mechanical & smart key systems, immobiliser systems, remote controls), human interface systems & controls (switches) and electronics (integrated circuits, connectors).

 

The company headquarters are located in Aichi, Japan.  Tokai Rika has a global footprint with production facilities in Japan, USA, Mexico, Brazil, China, Taiwan, Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, India as well as in Europe (Czech Republic & United Kingdom): development & application engineering take place in Japan, the United States and Belgium.

 

The global workforce amounts to circa 19600 FTE.  2014 sales were approximately € 3.49 billion.

 

SDCM

 

SDCM is the non-profit Polish Association of Automotive Parts Distributors and Producers.  The association was founded in Warsaw in 2005 to protect the interests of automotive parts distributors & suppliers, and ensure adequate representation towards policymakers, local stakeholders (consumer organisations, research institutes) and international organisations.

 

SDCM has approximately 100 members i.e. 63 parts manufacturers and 34 parts distributors.  The supplier section comprises Polish production sites of global corporations (20+ CLEPA Corporate Members are represented in SDCM e.g. Bosal, Brembo, Delphi, Denso, Gates, Hella, Mahle, Robert Bosch, Schaeffler, SKF, Sogefi, Tenneco, TRW, Valeo, ZF) as well as local enterprises.

 

SDCM has been a member of FIGIEFA since 2007 and has actively supported initiatives such as ECAR (European Campaign for the freedom of the Automotive Parts and Repair Market) and AFCAR (Alliance for the Freedom of Car Repair in the EU).

 

Focus areas – past and present – include:

 

  • EU level

 

MV BER, Euro 5/6, Open Telematics Platform, Repairs Clause, participation in CARS 21 / CARS 2020 working groups;

 

  • National

 

Lobbying Polish authorities on national & international legislation e.g. TTIP, proper implementation of EU legislation, innovation grants, internationalisation support for SMEs, road safety campaigns.
