CLEPA joins call for open EU trade and market access
CLEPA, along with 31 other European associations, have co-signed a Joint Declaration on Open Trade. The declaration calls for an ambitious EU trade policy focused on strong openness and market access pillars to boost EU exports, competitiveness, and job creation while ensuring supply chain resilience.
The declaration underlines that trade openness is crucial for economic growth and resilience. With one in five jobs in the EU linked to exports, maintaining an open trade policy is essential to sustain economic prosperity. The declaration calls for the reduction of market access barriers and the promotion of trade facilitation to benefit both exporters and consumers by increasing choice and reducing costs.
It also stresses the importance of balancing strategic autonomy with trade openness and calls for a dedicated Trade Commissioner to focus on improving market access and facilitating trade negotiations. By fostering an open trade environment, the EU can better position itself in the global market, driving innovation and ensuring long-term economic growth.
