Jean-Claude Juncker, the president-elect of the European Commission, confirmed last night that he is shuffling the portfolio allocation for the nominees to be in the next Commission college. Maroš Šefčovič, the Slovakian commissioner, will replace Slovenia’s Alenka Bratušek as the nominee to be vice-president for energy union. Bratušek withdrew her candidacy last week after being rejected by MEPs. Violeta Bulc, the new Slovenian nominee sent to replace her, will take transport – Šefčovič’s original portfolio assignment.
