From Horizon 2020 to FP9

On the 1st of December 2017, the Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on the transition from the Interim Evaluation of Horizon 2020 towards the ninth Framework Programme.

They highlight that  that R&I is essential for ensuring long-term sustainable economic growth, industrial competitiveness, social inclusion and addressing the major societal challenges, and that complying with these ambitious priorities requires well-funded and highly performing national R&I systems.

They ask the European Commission and the Member States to work closely together in order to further develop the European Research Area, and the need to ensure coherence with other EU funding programmes.
