Implementation of the eCall Directive

On the 17th of January, the European Commission published two regulations concerning the implementation of the eCall directive. This directive is aimed at equipping all new vehicles with eCall technology from April 2018. The eCall technology is a safety system dialling automatically Europe’s single emergency number – the 112 in case of a serious accident.

These two regulations bring additional details concerning the privacy and data protection of the users, as well as detailed technical requirements and test procedures.
