Skills high-level roundtable: A sectorial pact for skilling the automotive sector
The High-Level Roundtable on skills for the Automotive Sector (23 September) brought together industry representatives, academia, trade unions and employer´s associations to discuss the current challenges that the automotive industry is facing in terms of skills shortage and how to best support the shift towards low and zero emission mobility and digitalisation/automation.
At the round table, hosted by European Commissioners Nicolas Schmit, (Jobs and Social Rights) and Thierry Breton (Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs), CLEPA was represented by Secretary General Sigrid de Vries who received support from CLEPA Member Schaeffler. Together they highlighted the need to work towards a sectorial pact for skills, participated in and guided by industry in order to truly reflect the sector needs. They further emphasised the requirement for support through the necessary financing instruments.
CLEPA will keep working on the development of sectorial pact for skills and taking the ongoing outcomes of the DRIVES project. This represents an opportunity to provide an EU-wide framework that supports the entire eco-system, recognises the mutual skills and job-roles across EU and accelerates trainings delivered, facilitating the mobility of workers and experts across the EU.
