Net-zero emissions in 2050 requires integrated vision for safe, sustainable and smart mobility

The European Commission adopted today the Communication on the strategy for long-term EU greenhouse gas emissions reduction, containing scenarios for future policy making going from business-as-usual to net-zero emissions by 2050.

Sigrid de Vries, Secretary General of CLEPA, the European association of automotive suppliers, says:

“Strong efforts will be required from across society, including the transport sector. European automotive suppliers fully subscribe to the commitments made under the Paris agreement. To achieve net-zero emissions in 2050, automotive suppliers support a holistic approach rewarding innovation and efficiency as well as synergies between technologies, policies, infrastructures and sectors. When it comes to transport, technology solutions need to be embedded in an integrated vision for mobility that ensures the safe, sustainable, smart and seamless transportation of people and goods. Automotive suppliers are at the forefront of these developments and will actively engage in the consultation process kicked off by the Commission today.”
